A practical guide to live wedding music
Hire a Pianist for Your WeddingWithout the guesswork.
What to book, what it costs, which songs work and how a professional pianist fits naturally into your wedding day.
Clear advice · Flexible packages · No agency
Why live piano works
One instrument.
Endless flexibility.
A solo pianist can move from the intimacy of a ceremony to the energy of a reception without changing the character of your day.
Unlike a playlist, live piano responds to timing. An entrance can breathe, a drinks reception can rise as guests arrive, and dinner music can soften naturally for speeches.
When you hire me, you deal directly with the musician performing at your wedding—not an agency. That makes requests, planning, rates and practical decisions much clearer.
What can a wedding pianist play?
Music for every
part of the day.
The best package depends on where music will make the greatest difference for you.
Ceremony music
Guest arrival, processional, signing and recessional music with every cue rehearsed.
Cocktail hour
Jazz, pop and modern arrangements bring atmosphere to a drinks reception without overpowering it.
Wedding breakfast
Classical, film, soul and contemporary piano create warmth throughout the meal.
Full-day pianist
Continuity across several parts of the day, with repertoire and energy evolving naturally.
Styles and songs
From classical
to contemporary.
A professional wedding pianist should offer range—not force every couple into the same set list.

Questions, answered.
How much does it cost to hire a pianist for a wedding?
Rates vary with performance length, location, travel and instrument requirements. A tailored quote is more accurate than a generic hourly average.
How far ahead should we book?
Popular Saturdays can book well in advance, so enquire once your venue and date are confirmed. Short-notice bookings are still worth asking about.
Can a pianist play outside?
Often yes, provided there is safe cover, level ground, suitable power where needed and a workable weather plan agreed with the venue.
Is a pianist better than recorded music?
They create different experiences. Recorded music offers exact original tracks; a live pianist offers timing, adaptation, atmosphere and personal arrangements.
Start with the essentials
Your date. Your venue.
Your music.
