Pianist for Wedding Cost
Transparent pricing from a professional wedding pianist with over 35 years at the keys. No hidden fees — just beautiful live piano music, tailored to your day.
A pianist for a wedding in the UK typically costs between £350 and £895, depending on which parts of your day you’d like live piano music for. A ceremony set of around one hour sits at the lower end; a full day covering ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening will naturally cost more.
Many pianists charge per hour, which can leave you uncertain about the final bill — especially when timings shift on the day, as they always do. I work differently. Rather than hourly pricing, I offer clear packages so you know exactly what you’re paying from the moment you enquire.
Each package is designed around the natural shape of a wedding day, because that’s how your music should feel: seamless, not metered.

Let’s Talk About Your Wedding“Jools was absolutely wonderful. He read the room perfectly, played the most beautiful music during our ceremony, and kept the atmosphere going all through the drinks reception. Worth every penny.”Sarah & Tom — Wedding at Ston Easton Park, Somerset
What Affects the Cost of a Wedding Pianist?
The biggest factor is how much of your day you’d like live music for. A one-hour ceremony set is naturally less than having me play across the ceremony, drinks reception, and wedding breakfast — which might total four to six hours of performance. My packages are built around these natural stages of the day so you’re not paying for time you don’t need.
The instrument matters too. If your venue has a grand piano or acoustic upright, that’s always my preference — there’s nothing quite like the resonance of an acoustic instrument in a beautiful room. Where no piano is available, I bring a professional digital piano and high-quality speaker system at no extra cost.
Experience plays a real role. With over 35 years of playing piano and hundreds of weddings behind me, I offer the kind of quiet reliability you don’t notice on the day, but you’d certainly notice if it weren’t there. Travel across the South West is included as standard.

Grand Piano or Digital?
Many of the South West’s finest wedding venues — country houses, manor hotels, and historic churches — have a grand piano or acoustic upright available. Where possible, I always prefer to play an acoustic instrument: the natural warmth and resonance is simply unmatched.
For venues without a piano, or for outdoor ceremonies, I bring a professional digital piano with a high-quality speaker system. A premium digital instrument, played well, still creates a beautiful experience — and it works in almost any setting.
Either way, the cost is the same. I’ll always discuss the options with you and the venue in advance so you know exactly what to expect.
The gold standard. Warm, resonant tone that fills the room. Available at many South West venues.
Found in many churches and older venues. A wonderful choice for ceremonies with natural, intimate acoustics.
Professional instrument and speakers included in every package at no extra cost. Ideal for outdoor weddings.
Why Couples Choose Me
Hiring a pianist for your wedding is a personal decision, and the cheapest quote isn’t always the best value. The worth of a wedding pianist lies in what they bring beyond playing the right notes — it’s in how they handle the unexpected, how they make the music feel effortless, and how they create an atmosphere your guests talk about long after the day.
I’m not just a pianist — I’m a composer. That means I hear music differently. When you ask me to arrange a song for your ceremony, I’m not downloading sheet music; I’m building something from scratch that sounds exactly right for the moment.
More than anything, I read the room. I know when to be the focus and when to be invisible. That intuition comes from 35 years at the piano and hundreds of weddings — and it’s what you’re really investing in when you book me.
“We asked Jools to learn our special song and his arrangement was more beautiful than we could have imagined. Absolutely world class.”Charlotte & David — Babington House, Somerset
